President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s one-day visit on Wednesday focused on bolstering bilateral relations, especially around the shared River Nile, with talks on water management, agriculture, energy, and regional stability.
Museveni welcomed him at State House Entebbe for private discussions under the two nations’ flags, building on recent meetings like April’s ministerial talks in Cairo where Egypt pledged funds for Nile projects.
The leaders aim to advance mutual interests and Africa’s unity, amid their history of Pan-African solidarity and pacts on trade and security.
“Uganda and Egypt are bound by the River Nile, a shared natural heritage that calls for cooperation, mutual respect and joint development,” Uganda’s presidency said in a statement on X.
Cairo is attempting to build a coalition of nations to isolate Ethiopia, who refusal to compromise on the development of a mega dam on the Blue Nile has prompted concerns about Sudan and Egypt’s water security.
