Col. Nakalema urges ex-Miss Uganda to return husband’s property

Col. Edith Nakalema, the head of the State House Investors Protection Unit, has urged Stellah Nantumbwe—who gained fame as Miss Uganda 2013 and on Big Brother Africa—to repent and return property she took from her ex-husband and businessman Saidi Bukenya.

Nantumbwe and Bukenya married in a quiet civil ceremony in August 2025 after a traditional introduction earlier that year, with reports of their separation emerging in May.

In an undated video, Nakalema suggests that Nantumbwe took Bukenya’s belongings with the support or knowledge of her mother. She does not say what properties were snatched from Bukenya.

“Nantumbwe, please. God gave you a blessing, but the devil made you take the man’s belongings. This is the same man you chose and introduced to your parents. Instead, you and your mother came and took his property. I pray to God that you reconsider. You will not enjoy the man’s things while he is there crying. Repent and return the man’s belongings,” Nakalema says in the video.

Neither Nantumbwe nor Bukenya has responded to the claims, as the video fuels divides over divorce, property rights, and gender roles in Uganda.
