Prominent lawyer and People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) chairman Erias Lukwago reported security forces surrounding his Lubaga home early Monday, escalating to soldiers breaking in.
Associates say it stemmed from his plan to deliver court documents to General Muhoozi Kainerugaba over the November 2024 abduction of opposition figure Dr. Kizza Besigye from Nairobi.
By morning, former Kampala deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura confirmed masked military personnel took Lukwago away in a white van, as photos showed unmarked vehicles nearby. Opposition voices decried it as state-sponsored lawlessness, with no comment yet from police or military.
PFF condemned Lukwago’s kidnapping as ‘state-sponsored lawlessness’.
“Instead of respecting the rule of law, the regime has chosen military might to shield themselves from legal accountability and choke the voices of democratic change,” the part said in a post on X.
