Media personality and YouTuber Isaac Daniel Katende, popularly known as Kasuku, has come under fire following comments he made about the widow of late rugby player Sydney Gongodyo.

Gongodyo, a 27-year-old forward for the Uganda Rugby Cranes and Stanbic Black Pirates, died on June 5, 2026, after he was allegedly attacked by a mob in Ntinda, Kampala, over allegations of theft. Reports that CCTV footage later showed he was innocent sparked public outrage and calls for justice under the hashtag JusticeForSydney.

A video clip circulating on social media captured Kasuku making remarks about Gongodyo’s widow, prompting criticism from many users who described the comments as insensitive and inappropriate during a time of mourning.Critics argued that attention should remain on seeking justice for the slain rugby player and supporting his grieving family.

Others said the remarks disrespected both Gongodyo’s memory and his widow. Some of Kasuku’s supporters, however, defended him, saying his comments reflected the style of entertainment and celebrity commentary for which he is known.

As of press time, Kasuku had not publicly responded to the backlash or the growing calls for an apology. The controversy unfolds as Ugandans continue to demand accountability over the circumstances surrounding Gongodyo’s death and renewed action against mob justice.
