According to Diario AS, Federico Valverde has gone through the hardest stretch of his Real Madrid
career after the clash with Aurélien Tchouameni, the apology that followed, and the club sanction.
Sources close to the situation say the frustration of a difficult season pushed Valverde over the edge. During the argument at Valdebebas, he reportedly said he would never play for Real Madrid again, feeling the situation had become unbearable.
The shock of the situation hit him fully only after he returned home from the hospital, and he has accepted the €500,000 fine imposed on both players.
Even so, the same report insists Valverde’s commitment to the club has not changed. Valverde is now leaning on his family, while his wife Mina Bonino has publicly defended him on social media and pushed back against the criticism.
Valverde is also set to miss around 10 to 14 days after being diagnosed with cranioencephalic trauma, according to the club’s medical report. That means he will watch the end of the season from the sidelines rather than return immediately.
Real Madrid have already punished both Valverde and Tchouaméni with fines after an internal investigation, and both players have apologised to each other.
