Bukomansimbi MP Geoffrey Kayemba Ssolo has raised concern over the UGX12.5 billion allocated to the Uganda Cranes ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, describing it as insufficient to build a competitive team.Ssolo says the budget cannot support key areas like quality friendly matches, player recruitment, and proper preparations. He noted that attracting strong international teams requires high appearance fees, which the current funds cannot cover. The legislator also criticized the UGX1.5 billion set aside for player naturalization, saying it is too little to attract talented players with Ugandan roots abroad.Following a poor AFCON 2025 performance, Ssolo urged increased investment to strengthen the team and avoid disappointing results on home soil.
