A new trend is steadily transforming Kampala’s nightlife as more people embrace quiz nights as a fun and interactive way to socialize and unwind. On Monday evening, whisky brand Black & White hosted another edition of its popular Quiz Night at El Nivel Bar and Restaurant, attracting a lively crowd eager for entertainment beyond the usual party atmosphere.
Unlike traditional nightlife events dominated by loud music and dancing, the quiz night created a calm environment where participants engaged in teamwork, conversation, and friendly competition.Hosted by quiz master Pius Arinawe, the event featured several rounds of questions covering topics such as entertainment, current affairs, and general knowledge.
One of the most exciting moments of the evening came during a pop culture round inspired by the recent Met Gala, where participants identified celebrities based on their famous red carpet outfits.Teams competed for prizes including cocktail pitchers and a bottle of Black & White whisky awarded to the overall winners.
A tense tie-breaker between Team Tokyo Revengers and Team Ballads also kept the audience entertained after contestants debated over a question about diamond carats before Team Ballads emerged victorious. The growing popularity of quiz nights reflects changing entertainment preferences among Kampala residents, especially middle-aged professionals looking for more relaxed and meaningful social experiences.
Many participants described the events as a blend of education and entertainment, commonly referred to as “edutainment.”With attendance continuing to rise at different venues across the city, quiz nights are quickly becoming one of Kampala’s most popular alternatives to traditional nightlife.
