The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has called on government to release political activist Eddy Mutwe, saying the continued prosecution lacks strong evidence.Speaking at the Buganda Parliament in Bulange, Mengo, Mayiga urged authorities to reduce political tensions now that the election period is over. He said individuals arrested over what he described as minor political matters should be freed to promote peace and unity.Mayiga specifically questioned the charges facing Mutwe, a known supporter of National Unity Platform leader Robert Kyagulanyi. Mutwe has been appearing in court over allegations linked to political activities and theft claims. The case has attracted public attention, with supporters arguing that the charges are politically motivated, while prosecutors maintain they are based on criminal conduct.
