Kampala’s nightlife enthusiasts are gearing up for the third edition of the Scratch Battle, set to take place at Supremacy Lounge this weekend.The event, organised under the Smirnoff Fiesta platform, will bring together some of the country’s most talented DJs to compete in a showcase of scratching, mixing and turntable skills.
According to organisers, 12 DJs will battle for top honours and a cash prize of Shs5 million in what has become one of Uganda’s most anticipated DJ competitions.Scratch battles are designed to highlight the technical side of DJing, allowing participants to demonstrate creativity, precision and performance skills beyond simply playing popular songs.Speaking about the event, Smirnoff Uganda said the competition reflects its continued commitment to supporting Uganda’s growing DJ culture and providing platforms where talent can thrive.
The brand’s manager, Raymond Karama, described the battle as a celebration of DJs who push creative boundaries and bring unique styles to their performances.The DJ Association of Uganda has also welcomed the competition, noting that scratching remains an important skill that requires dedication, practice and technical expertise.
In addition to the competition itself, the event is expected to attract music lovers, nightlife enthusiasts and industry figures eager to witness some of the country’s best turntablists in action.Smirnoff brand ambassador Etania is also expected to be part of the experience, adding to the excitement surrounding the event.Over the years, DJs have become central figures in Uganda’s entertainment industry, playing a major role in shaping nightlife experiences, promoting music and connecting audiences through their performances.
As anticipation builds, organisers promise an evening filled with energetic performances, crowd interaction and high-level competition.For many attendees, the Scratch Battle is more than just a contest. It is an opportunity to celebrate DJ culture and recognise the skill, creativity and hard work that goes into mastering the art of turntablism.With bragging rights, prize money and prestige on the line, all eyes will be on Supremacy Lounge as competitors take to the decks in pursuit of victory.
