Singer Karole Kasita has received official clearance from the Ministry of Health to proceed with her highly anticipated Women Power Within concert scheduled for Friday at Kampala Serena Hotel.
The approval brings relief to fans and organisers following uncertainty over whether the event would be affected by ongoing Ebola prevention measures targeting mass gatherings.
In a letter addressed to Karole Kasita’s management team, led by manager Arnold Ssempijja, popularly known as Apple, the Ministry of Health confirmed that the concert may proceed provided organisers adhere to all public health requirements.According to the ministry, approval was granted after reviewing the measures put in place by the organisers to safeguard attendees.
“The Ministry of Health appreciates your measures undertaken and notifying the Ministry on organizing the Women Power Within event at Serena Hotel, an event that attracts mass gatherings,” the ministry stated.
The ministry emphasised that organisers must fully comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) governing public gatherings, including guidelines related to Ebola prevention and control.
Organisers have also been directed to work closely with Dr. JB Waiaye Nambohe, the Commissioner for Emergency Medical Services, who currently oversees the Mass Gathering Sub-Pillar under Uganda’s national Ebola response framework.
In the letter signed by Director General of Health Services Prof. Charles Olaro, the ministry advised the organisers to seek technical guidance and coordination where necessary to ensure public safety throughout the event.
The clearance clears the path for what is expected to be one of Karole Kasita’s biggest performances to date.The singer has spent recent weeks mobilising fans and promoting the concert, which is expected to celebrate women’s achievements in entertainment through music, live performances and stage production.
While preparations continue, organisers now carry the added responsibility of ensuring strict adherence to all health and safety measures during the show.For Karole Kasita and her supporters, however, the most important news is that the concert will go ahead as planned.The Women Power Within concert will be Karole Kasita’s second major concert and is being produced by Fenon Premium Events.
