Dar es Salaam — The National Arts Council of Tanzania (BASATA) has named rising artist Tunu Halisi as the latest winner of the BASATA Rising Star Award, tasking him with composing a special song for the AFCON 2027 tournament.
Speaking during the award ceremony at the French Cultural Centre, Acting Executive Secretary Edward Buganga said the initiative will see selected artists produce three songs, with one dedicated to AFCON 2027.
Tunu Halisi expressed gratitude for the recognition, pledging to deliver music that connects with audiences across the continent.
Meanwhile, Addo November, President of the Tanzania Music Federation, praised the Rising Star program for nurturing young talent and strengthening the country’s music industry.
