Ugandan singer David Lutalo has spoken in support of DNA testing, saying it is better to resolve paternity questions while parents are still alive than leave families to deal with uncertainty after death.Speaking in a recent interview, the “Kapapala” hitmaker said establishing biological relationships early can help prevent inheritance disputes, family conflicts and lengthy legal battles.
Lutalo pointed to the ongoing controversy surrounding the estate of late musician Prince Paul Kafeero, whose remains were recently exhumed for DNA testing to identify the rightful beneficiaries of his estate.
According to the singer, the case highlights the importance of embracing DNA testing whenever there is doubt over a child’s paternity. He argued that such measures ensure that only legitimate beneficiaries inherit family property and that biological children are not unfairly denied their rights.
The musician also revealed that over the years, several women have approached him claiming he fathered their children. However, he said some of the claims came from women he had never met, making DNA testing the only reliable way to establish the truth.
Lutalo maintained that any woman who believes he is the father of her child should be willing to undergo a DNA test, emphasizing that scientific evidence is the best way to resolve such sensitive matters.
He concluded that life is unpredictable and that addressing paternity issues now is far better than leaving future generations with unanswered questions and family disputes.
