Ugandan singer Dre Cali has broken his silence on his relocation to Canada, saying the decision was driven by a desire for better opportunities and a more secure future rather than the rumors that surrounded his departure.
Speaking in an interview with Kaiyz, the singer dismissed allegations that he pretended to be ill in order to obtain a Canadian visa, insisting that his move was a personal choice aimed at improving his life.
Dre Cali explained that leaving Uganda meant ending his working relationship with fellow musician and Mpaka Records boss Ykee Benda, who has previously stated that he invested heavily in the singer’s career before his unexpected relocation.
Reflecting on the decision, Dre Cali said he had to prioritize himself and believes many people in a similar situation would have made the same choice.”There are moments in life when you have to choose yourself,” he said, adding that self-preservation and the pursuit of a better future guided his actions.
The singer acknowledged the public interest in his departure but maintained that some aspects of the story are deeply personal and will remain private.According to Dre Cali, there are reasons behind his relocation that he has no intention of revealing, emphasizing that not every part of his life belongs in the public domain.
Despite the controversy that followed his move, the singer expressed no regrets and said he remains convinced that settling in Canada was the right decision for his future and personal growth.
