The proposed Shs200 increase on fuel excise duty will further burden struggling taxpayers, economic analysts warn.If Parliament passes the Excise Duty (Amendment) Bill 2026, petrol duty will rise to Shs1,750 per litre and diesel to Shs1,430.Ibrahim Musa Ladu reports that while the government downplays the increase as modest, experts liken it to overloading a broken vehicle nearly out of fuel.
