Veteran Ugandan dancehall artiste Peter Miles is mourning the loss of his mother, Ms. Elizabeth Sserunkuuma Kanyike, who passed away at the age of 81.According to information shared by the singer and family members, Ms. Kanyike died on May 23, 2026, at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala after battling illness for some time.
The heartbreaking news was announced through Peter Miles’ social media pages, where fans, fellow artistes and close friends flooded the comment sections with condolence messages and prayers for the grieving family.Over the years, Peter Miles has remained one of Uganda’s respected dancehall pioneers, known for his contribution to the country’s music industry and his energetic stage performances.
The loss of his mother has therefore touched many supporters who have followed his journey throughout the years.Family members also released burial arrangements for the late Ms. Kanyike as preparations for her final send-off get underway.
According to the programme, a requiem service will be held at St. Mark’s Church Namata on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, beginning at 10:00am. After the church service, mourners will proceed to the family home in Baita Ababiri, Kabale-Entebbe, where a vigil will be held.She will later be laid to rest in Muduuma-Walukunyu on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 4:00pm.
