Ugandan singer Martha Mukisa has encouraged women to make the decision to become mothers only when they are emotionally, financially, and mentally prepared, stressing that a strong support system is essential for a healthy parenting journey.
The singer, who welcomed her baby girl in May last year, shared that motherhood has been a rewarding experience because of the care and encouragement she receives from her family and close circle. She believes that having supportive people makes it easier for new mothers to balance family life and personal ambitions.
Speaking about her experience, Martha noted that emotional stability is just as important as financial readiness. She explained that peace of mind and dependable support have enabled her to return to her music career while caring for her child.Martha also highlighted the unique challenges female musicians face during pregnancy and after childbirth.
According to her, many artists are forced to take a break from performing and recording, interrupting carefully planned career goals and reducing their visibility in the industry.
She added that women who lack support from partners, family members, or management teams often struggle to regain momentum and, in some cases, experience depression as they cope with motherhood alone.
Through her message, Martha hopes to encourage women to carefully consider the responsibilities of parenthood and to seek strong support networks before starting a family. Her remarks have resonated with many people, opening conversations about motherhood, mental health, and the realities of balancing a demanding career with raising a child.
