The ongoing royalty dispute between musicians Cindy Sanyu and Omega 256 appears to be moving towards a resolution after Cindy confirmed that she has finally received her share of the royalties from their collaborative song, See You Tonight.
The disagreement began earlier this week when Cindy accused Omega 256 of changing their agreed royalty arrangement from an equal 50-50 split to a 60-40 allocation in Omega’s favour.
Cindy also claimed that she financed the production of the song while Omega’s contribution was limited to recording vocals.In a new development, Cindy shared screenshots on social media showing that she had been added to the royalty splits on the digital music distribution platform DistroKid.
Expressing gratitude to her supporters, Cindy revealed that she had received a split sheet reflecting the agreed 50 percent allocation.“After all the pressure you put on this woman, she finally did the right thing and sent me the split sheet with the 50% allocation.
Before this she had been getting her 60% and also the 40% which belonged to me according to our agreement. God is faithful,” she wrote.Before the latest development, Omega 256 had denied the allegations, insisting that Cindy’s claims were false and challenging her to provide proof of the production expenses she said she covered.
Omega also stated that the accusations had damaged her reputation and expressed disappointment that the dispute involved someone she considered both a friend and colleague.
The public fallout attracted widespread attention on social media, where fans debated issues of music ownership and royalty sharing.Although Cindy’s latest update suggests progress in settling the financial dispute, it remains unclear whether the two artists have reconciled or if their personal relationship has been repaired.
