The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has recovered $10.2 million concealed in a cargo container declared as personal goods from Turkey. The cash was discovered during a routine inspection following stricter verification directives by Commissioner General John Musinguzi Rujoki. A customs officer uncovered the money hidden in four boxes, despite an attempt by a clearing agent to bribe her to stay silent. She reported the incident, earning praise for integrity and professionalism. URA has since taken a suspect into custody. Officials say increased physical inspections are exposing tax evasion and illicit financial flows at Uganda’s borders.
