Former transport minister Monica Azuba dies

Former Works and Transport Minister Monica Azuba Ntege has died, according to reports from sources close to her family. She reportedly passed away at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala, although official confirmation from government and relatives was still pending by press time.Azuba served in Cabinet from 2016 to 2019, overseeing key national infrastructure projects, including road construction and efforts to revive Uganda Airlines. Her tenure placed her at the centre of Uganda’s transport and development agenda.She replaced John Byabagambi and was later succeeded by Gen Edward Katumba Wamala. In 2018, she made headlines over investigations into alleged irregularities in a vehicle inspection contract.Her death comes just over a year after the passing of her husband.
